My name is Maritza and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Fullerton, California and working with clients via telehealth statewide. I have experience working with adults who have endured trauma, loss/grief, addiction, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues. I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Holistic approach to empower my clients in pursuing the life they have always imagined.
My approach
My approach to therapy will vary as every patient will have different needs. I most commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a Holistic approach to help me gain an understanding of the client's perspective and personal experience. Through a Holistic lens I will explore the person as a whole including their , physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I will guide clients towards identifying their belief system, family dynamics, work environments and how these different areas impact their well-being.
My focus
I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, LGBTQ+, life transitions, and identity and self-esteem issues. I work to help my clients build insight and awareness on the impact these challenges and life transitions have on their life. While also gain and develop the skills necessary to overcome these challenges and have positive perspective towards their future.
My communication style
I like to provide my clients with a safe and healing space, where they feel welcomed to be themselves. I provide empathy, and reflective listening throughout our session while also creating space for awareness to emotions and thoughts that may arise. I believe in the uniqueness of every individual and provide a judgment free space.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I truly enjoy helping others. I have always been drawn to advocate, listen, and support individuals who are experiencing a difficult time. I enjoy uplifting others, and supporting them in becoming the best version of themselves.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is about collaboratively identifying what you want to accomplish in therapy. We will begin by building a trusting relationship and identifying goals you want to work on. Over time we will develop a dynamic where we review our progress and identify barriers and successes.
My first session with you
During our first session, we will begin by getting to know one another. I will ask questions related to your upbringing, family dynamics, support system, and current challenges you are experiencing. The first session is about us getting to know one another and determining if we are a good fit for one another.
