Hi there, I'm Cienna!

My name is Cienna Bancroft LMFT#123658. I am a Humanistic therapist and often adapt my approach to what works for my clients. I work with adults and teens primarily and see individuals, couples, families, and all relationship styles.

My approach

I have experience in Humanistic therapy mostly. However, I also have used CBT, DBT, and Experiential theories when working with individuals. When working with couples/families I have used EFT and Gottman styles as well. I like to tailor my approach to what the client comes in with and go from there.

My focus

I have worked with ages from 5 to 75 and am open to all. I have the most experience with common concerns such as depression/anxiety/life stressors. My goal is to be a sounding board for my clients' needs.

My communication style

I prefer to use humor in my sessions when it is appropriate. I often tell clients that being the therapist may make it seem like I have all the answers but that is only because I can be the observer on the outside. I am very aware it is harder to do when someone is in the middle of it. For that reason, I go at the pace of the client and I am understanding of that.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a therapist in hopes of becoming a source of support for people. I love looking at relationships and the dynamics between people. Our world is so goal-driven, it often feels like there is no room to breathe and I want to be that small hour for people that allows for a sigh of relief.

My goals for you

In the first session or two, I will ask the client questions about what brought them to me and formulate goals from that. I check in with the client often to see if I am on track with them. I think the best work comes in small steps and prefer to celebrate mini-milestones with clients to help build morale.

My first session with you

In the first session, I try to ask open-ended questions that allow me to get to know someone. I prefer to use a Humanistic approach that allows me to see a whole person and not just problems or things that someone feels they need to fix. I like to build on goals starting small and then working to a larger focus.
