My name is Taelyr (pronounced Taylor) Patton and I am an LCSW. I tailor my approach differently for each client, with the most common methods being mindfulness, CBT, and DBT. I currently focus on couples, youth, and families as they overcome various seasons of their lives.
My approach
I use the approaches of mindfulness, CBT, and DBT, however not everyone fits into that approach. Depending on my clients' needs I also use models based on grief, recovery, acceptance, trauma, and emotional intelligence.
My focus
Over the years I have helped couples save their marriages, work through family grief and work through betrayal trauma. I enjoy working with individuals as they reconnect with themselves and rebuild their self-esteem and identity. I also work with families and/or individuals treating grief and addiction.
My communication style
I like to create an atmosphere of safety and transparency. I want my client to feel safe sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Our sessions are a time to get real and fully explore their life journey and where it has brought them. Then the client gets to decide the direction they want to head in life and how they foresee that person.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a teen I worked with foster youth who shared their stories of abandonment, loneliness, and trauma. As a kid myself I didn't fully know how to support besides listening and comfort. I never wanted to feel that helpless when helping a fellow human being again so I became a therapist. Watching people heal and having the privilege of being a part of their journey has been my greatest joy as a therapist.
My goals for you
The client gets to establish 3 - 6 goals where we identify coping techniques and seek understanding further insight into the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of the goal selected. We will take weekly steps towards achieving the goal together.
My first session with you
During the first session, we will explore the background to understand the current matter at hand and how we got here.
