Evelyn Alicea-Samaniego

Hello, My name is Dr. Alicea-Samaniego. I have been a California Licensed Psychologist since 2003. In my years as a Psychologist, I have had a private practice, served as an adjunct instructor in a Masters's program, and was the Chief Psychologist at a corrections facility in California. I work with a variety of clients that present with different issues. My focus has been to provide services to the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, Spanish-speaking individuals, and women's issues.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-based therapy, and mindfulness.

My focus

In my experience, I have worked with clients who are experiencing challenges in their lives and need help to navigate through their stress, depression, anger, and anxiety. I have helped those dealing with gender identity struggles, sexual orientation, and coming out issues.

My communication style

My communication style towards my clients is a more direct communication style, I listen to my clients without judgment, It is important for a client to feel comfortable to speak freely about issues.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a Psychologist because I was intrigued by human behavior and experience. I felt this was what I was supposed to do.

My approach to goal setting is a collaborative. I assist clients in setting obtainable and reasonable goals.

My first session with you

In our first session, I will ask questions in order to get to know what brought you to therapy. We will get to know each other and evaluate our fit.
