I am Eliza Warde, a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). I believe that you are the expert on You and through questions and observations, I can offer guidance in helping you achieve your goals. Areas of focus include depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, parenting, and competitive performance issues.
My approach
My therapeutic approach can vary depending on the client. Client-centered therapy is a nondirective approach to therapy, focusing on maximizing the client's ability to find their own solutions with support from the therapist. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) focuses on how thoughts and emotions affect behavior. These are the two approaches I most commonly use with clients.
My focus
Typical issues that my clients present with are depression, stress, anxiety, self-esteem, and challenges in parenting. I also am knowledgeable regarding competitive athletics and performance issues.
My communication style
My therapeutic environment is one of openness and acceptance. I provide a non-judgemental approach so clients feel comfortable and relaxed. I listened intently to understand the client's world and self-view.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a psychology major in college, I have always been interested in people's personal journeys and the impact of their journeys on their lives and relationships. I value being in a relationship with clients and helping them find their truth and improve their lives. Helping clients feel understood is important in the therapeutic process.
My goals for you
I follow the client's lead in regard to goal setting. Some clients begin therapy with specific goals in mind, while others develop goals over time and through the therapeutic process.
My first session with you
The first session involves some history taking to understand current and past issues and then it is open for the clients to discuss what is most important to them.
