My name is Taryn Duenes and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California working with clients across the state via telehealth. I bring a strengths-based compassion forward mindset to sessions with my clients. I work with adults 18+ and specialize in anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and adjustment difficulty.
My approach
I like to incorporate a variety of modalities based on each client’s unique needs. I often integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Religiously Integrated CBT, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
My focus
I have experience working with clients across the spectrum of age, ethnicity, religion, background, and stage of life. I typically work with adults on a variety of concerns including negative thought patterns, low self-esteem, relational discord, social impairment, cultural identity, trauma, and navigating significant life transitions.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, warm, empathetic, and direct. I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing in sessions with confidence they will be respected, understood, and not judged by me.
My journey to mental healthcare
What drives me to be a therapist is the opportunity to help others. I am passionate about empowering people to become better versions of themselves. I believe in the transformative process of therapy and find joy in being witness to and supporting this process for my clients.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is about clearly defining what we can accomplish during our time together. This starts with building trust and establishing a collaborative partnership to support your unique journey. Over time we’ll determine specific achievable goals while celebrating progress along the way.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session is an exploration of your current strengths, resources, concerns, and desired outcomes from therapy. The emphasis is on laying a foundation for our working relationship and clarifying areas of focus.
