My name is Starr Lee, a licensed marriage family therapist (LMFT), working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, and trauma, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy to help my clients to regain health, wholeness, and wellness.
My approach
My theoretical approach to therapy is based on the needs of each client. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Client-Centered Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and help clients to develop a greater sense of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal growth.
My focus
In my experience, my style and approach are a good fit for young adults and adults who may be dealing with challenges coping with trauma, grief and loss, social pressures, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I work to help my clients to develop a more positive and adaptive way of thinking, feeling, behaving and to empower my clients to take an active role in their own lives.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, personable, and collaborative. I want my clients to know I am empathetic and genuine.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I was inspired by individuals whom I respect and admired for their selfless acts of love for people. I have naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times whether that is volunteering in my community or being a trusted and loyal friend. I enjoy sitting with individuals providing comfort and support.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. It is important to ensure that goals are realistic and achievable. Setting goals will help to build a strong therapeutic alliance.
My first session with you
The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go. I like to listen and provide space for clients to share about themselves and their challenges.
