Hi, my name is Terri Rathbun, and I am an experienced licensed therapist (LMFT). I am an SFT (Solution-Focused Therapist) and client-centered therapist. It is important to me that clients in my care feel safe, heard, validated, and respected; without judgment. During therapy, we will collaborate together at your own pace.
My approach
I utilize motivational interviewing, and I am trauma-informed. I will give you feedback and not just listen passively. Humor during the therapeutic process is welcome and can be healing.
My focus
My clinical focus is on adults with moderate to chronic/challenging mental health issues. I have extensive experience treating anxiety, depression, trauma and stressor-related disorders, bipolar disorders, psychotic spectrum disorders, and co-occurring substance use disorders....to name a few.
My communication style
Validation, and creating an emotionally safe environment. Attunement to client's needs- Also, recognizing, and addressing any safety needs/safety planning w/client's participation.
My journey to mental healthcare
Just when individuals feel it is all too much, I help clients engage in the therapeutic process, and share sometimes difficult thoughts and feelings; improving understanding, and facilitating the healing process. I will be your support system along your journey to a greater sense of self, well-being, feelings of happiness, and self-efficacy. We will resolve challenges together. I will help guide you in a positive, and meaningful direction; at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
My goals for you
This is a collaborative process. Using motivational interviewing techniques, we will develop goals together. I encourage clients to be an integral part of developing short and long-term goals. We will develop change ideas and positive new ways of navigating life.
My first session with you
I will conduct an initial assessment, and explore your mental health needs, and concerns. This will be an opportunity to begin establishing rapport and gain a better understanding of what you are wanting from therapy. We will move at your own pace and I will respect your level of comfort during the initial session and throughout the therapeutic process- See you soon!
