Hello, and welcome to my PATH profile. My name is Jacqueline Angeles and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. I have been licensed for 6.5 years and practicing for 14 years in the mental health profession. My approach to therapy is to facilitate, mental, emotional, behavioral, and social health to optimize your functioning at home, work, school, and the community.
My approach
My theoretical approach to providing therapy consists of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and family systems. It is my responsibility to synchronize your thoughts, feelings, and actions to facilitate your self-actualization and realization about yourself, others, and the future. Furthermore, if in the therapeutic working relationship, there are motivational barriers to achieving your true short and long-term objectives I will facilitate a cost-benefit analysis with regard to your choices and options that will facilitate motivation for personal change. It is imperative that your true thoughts, feelings, and actions are synchronized with one another in order to develop healthy relationships and practice good social judgment via assertive communication at home, work, and in the community. Personal success involves your social networking and your ability to develop healthy working relationships with others that inspire hope, meaning, and creativity in your life.
My focus
I am experienced in treating young to older adults with regard to anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse as the result of family upbringing, loss, environmental stress, and developmental change. According to the paradigm shift in the mental health profession, substance abuse is a symptom of an acute or chronic mental disorder. I will facilitate mental and emotional symptom relief in facilitating motivation and inspiration for substance abuse recovery.
My communication style
Upon initiating a warm and empathetic therapeutic working relationship, I provide a safe space for my clients by starting our sessions with a mood check in relation to the most recent events that are impacting their current mental, emotional, and behavioral functioning in the present moment. Following our check-in I collaborate with my clients to address the top issue of concerns related to their symptoms. I utilize guided discovery also known as Socratic questioning to identify and educate my clients about cognitive distortions that relate to their mental, emotional, behavioral, and social health while facilitating accurate, balanced, and complete thinking about self, others, the world, and the future. Clients can have the option to experience a sense of hope, purpose, motivation, and a new zest for life.
My journey to mental healthcare
My desire and passion to become a mental health provider consist of my relationship experiences at home, school, work, and the community. I have learned through personal experiences that relationships directly impact our mental, emotional, behavioral, social, and spiritual health. It is my compassionate goal to help others overcome the inevitable challenges of adversity which serve as a catalyst for interpersonal growth in all domains of their lives.
My goals for you
Treatment objectives are collaboratively developed with the client that is being treated. Short-term objectives can range from managing symptoms, developing nonsubstance coping practices, offsetting self-destructive behaviors, and developing a healthy social environment. Short-term consists of lifestyle changes that can lead to long-term objectives such as a career path, financial independence, personal empowerment, family, marriage, and relationship success.
My first session with you
Upon the initial session, clients can anticipate a biopsychosocial assessment to collaboratively explore the specific need for mental health services while developing a therapeutic working relationship via the building of trust and rapport.
