My name is Lloyd Wells, and I am licensed in California as a licensed clinical social worker. My approach to therapy is to help clients discover their strengths and then find achievable goals that can affect change in their lives, allowing them to be able to find their authentic selves.
My approach
My approach is to find solutions to individual life challenges that impair clients' progress. I use CBT methodologies to help clients re-frame their thinking about barriers to happiness and fulfillment. I often use solution- and strength-based interventions to encourage and effectuate results that align the person with their true selves.
My focus
I am comfortable working with a wide variety of populations, including ethnic minorities, the elderly, and the LGBTQIA community. I am seasoned in addressing a wide range of clinical issues, including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, substance abuse, and sexual identity concerns.
My communication style
I tend to work in a conversational and collaborative way, adapting to the communication style and clinical needs of each client. I provide psycho-education and promote the use of community resources to help achieve the client's desired goals. I strongly believe in accountability and measuring each client's progress toward their personal therapy objectives.
My journey to mental healthcare
As an empathic person, it has been my lifelong goal to be in service to others and leverage my skills and abilities to help them heal trauma and achieve defined personal goals. My objective and comfort zone has always been as a client advocate and I view therapy as a way to respect, honor, and appreciate humanity.
My goals for you
I work with clients to help them discover the personal goals and desires for healing that are meaningful and achievable to them, such that they can have achieved greater clarity and self-efficacy along along their life's journey.
My first session with you
Clients should expect some questions to assess their current level of safety and to ensure that primary needs are met. In addition, they should anticipate a grounding discussion about their key expectations and what they hope to achieve by engaging in the therapeutic process.
