Coming to therapy is a heroic step. Yet without a great therapist, one’s work toward healing may only go so far. As a clinician with many years in the field, I grasp the process and how to guide one from anxiety and fear to curiosity and hope, then to courage and competence.
My approach
I work psychodynamically. This means that in addition to talk therapy emphasis is placed on the relational aspects between patient and therapist. Through this exchange, in a setting free of judgment, deep insight is achieved. This provides the patient with a sensitive regard for self, and therefore toward others, and helps lead to prolonged optimal expression of oneself in the world.
My focus
I work with individuals (adults and adolescents) and couples in a range of areas, including anxiety and depression, trauma and grief, bipolar and borderline, parenting, and marital and premarital.
My communication style
I collaborate with patients through deeply and attentively listening to them. Through this process, we uncover conflicts and maladaptive repetitions and work through these so that patients may move toward what they want and need in order to live a fulfilling life.
My journey to mental healthcare
I hold two Master's Degrees in the field of mental health, including most recently from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy track. My training has been rigorous and also very rewarding. As someone who truly loves his profession and is a lifelong learner, I continue to advance myself in the field.
My goals for you
I work to guide patients in living an examined life, and help them in connecting (often for the first time) to their feelings and therefore their true self. This is where healing and optimal growth begin.
