Hi there, I'm Richard!

My main goal is for you to leave sessions feeling heard and capable of using newly developed tools to make change. I specialize in anxiety, stress management, depression, adjusting to life stressors, and family and relationship issues.

My focus

I work with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples to help them manage a wide range of presenting issues. I have training in working with a variety of conditions, including anxiety, mood disorders such as depression, problems with emotional regulation, stress and life changes, and family and relationship issues.

My approach

I use research-based tools and techniques to help individuals see how their automatic thoughts impact their moods and how their moods can impact their behaviors. By learning to break free from harmful automatic thoughts and negative behaviors, I help clients create new patterns to live a more fulfilling life.

My communication style

My communication style is compassionate and caring. I am focused on seeing my clients for who they are and where they are in their lives. Being an active listener who supports clients in a judgment-free space, I welcome clients to feel open to talking about a variety of subjects and encourage the development of healthy communication skills.

My journey to mental healthcare

My favorite thing about being a therapist is being a witness to people’s ability to grow and change. Since choosing this career path, I have been passionate about learning about how we think and feel, and can be impacted by those around us. I enjoy working with people, both new to therapy and those returning to therapy.

Goal setting is an incredibly important part of therapy. I help clients focus their priorities for therapy and set specific and measurable goals for their progress. We will work collaboratively on establishing goals that meet your unique aspirations for a more fulfilling life. We will check in about goals regularly.

The first session allows me to learn about you and your unique needs. I encourage you to catch me up on the ups and downs of your life so far and share goals for the future. I'll answer questions about what to expect, and we'll leave with clear goals for future work together.
