My journey to mental healthcare

Working with adolescents for 6 years created an intense interest in me to know how to try to help mitigate the symptoms of sadness and lack of motivation in their lives and their families. I also wanted to understand more about the reasons why many Latina adolescents during the period from 12 years to 18 years old became pregnant.

My goals for you

Since talking about goals and the future can be overwhelming, I ease into goal setting in a conversation with the client about what interests them. I will consider what they want to achieve, and then commit to it. I will plan with them the steps they must take to realize their goal and will help them to work through them.

Our first session

I will ask several questions to know the client better. I will ask them for the reasons they are seeking therapy. I will ask them about their needs or issues they would like to address in their treatment together, as well as what they have done to manage their mental health in the past.
