Hi there, I'm Jose!

My approach towards therapy is empowering the client and exposing their strengths. I am client-centered, meaning the client is the expert of their lives and should be the one in control of their treatment.

My focus

I'm an expert working with adolescents and families. However, I do work with people ages 12 and up. Most of all, I am an expert working with families that exclusively speak Spanish.

My approach

I'm a strength-based therapist and focus on the client's strengths. In addition, I use other theoretical orientations such as solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered, and attachment. Finally, I am a certified Multidimensional Family Therapist focusing on modifying the way the family experiences each other.

My communication style

I do my best not to talk as much and use the two instruments on the side of my head, my ears. I utilize a lot of reflective listening and empathy.

My journey to mental healthcare

My career took off when I began working with adolescents and families through a case management position. I had the privilege of learning from a difficult population working with adolescents in the juvenile justice system. These clients taught me necessary skills that shaped my clinical skills as a therapist.

My goals for you

My approach towards goal setting is for the clients themselves to provide what they wish to improve. Of course, if they need assistance, I can provide suggestions based on the barriers that impede the client from having stability.

In the first session, a client should expect to feel understood and be heard. I provide clients with a sense of autonomy that they are the experts in their lives.
