My name is Nancy Beltran; I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), currently practicing in the County of Los Angeles, California, with services provided statewide via telehealth. My passion and experience have been in the areas of anxiety, trauma, depression, and ADHD. I use a collaborative and integrative approach since I believe that my clients are the experts in their own lives.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy. These modalities teach us to consciously pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judgment and provide an opportunity to change unhelpful thinking patterns leading to depression and other mental health-related issues.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who have experienced multiple episodes of depression, low mood, anxiety, unhappiness, and traumatic experiences. I work to help my clients build self-awareness and develop skills to break through the vicious cycles of depression and anxiety; while developing a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My communication style is accommodating, welcoming, and personable, with a good sense of humor. One of my priorities is to assist my clients to feel safe and comfortable talking with me about anything without feeling judged. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and am available to provide therapy in both languages.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been passionate about helping people, which led to my decision to become a therapist. Throughout my experience and training as a therapist, I have personally applied the skills and tools learned and have gained personal and professional growth and insight and the opportunity to heal. I greatly value the tools I teach, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to assist others with improving their overall quality of life.
My goals for you
I use a collaborative approach to goal setting and assist my clients with identifying what they want to accomplish in treatment; we work together to set a goal and track and monitor the progress made. It often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy.
My first session with you
During our first session together, you can expect to spend the majority of our time talking about how you have been recently feeling as I ask questions to better understand why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for my clients moving forward.
