Hello and welcome, my name is Alejandra and I am a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in mental health. I practice from a psychodynamic perspective, which means I pay attention to feelings and beliefs that emerge from one's lived experience. I work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, work issues, family issues and can include faith as a part of the healing process.
My approach
My approach to therapy is client-centered and based on an individual's needs. Every individual is unique and I believe in collaborating with clients to problem-solve together. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Integrative/Holistic Therapy. I believe in seeing each person from a whole-person perspective, which means emotional, physical, and spiritual needs are addressed. These modalities help me gain a clearer understanding of how to move forward with each individual.
My focus
I have experience providing mental health services to clients of all ages in a variety of settings such as schools, hospitals, behavioral health clinics, and non-profit faith-based organizations. I have worked with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic violence, women's issues, chronic illness & pain, substance use, relationship conflict, burnout, life transitions, caregiver stress, and Christian counseling. I work to help my clients problem-solve and identify coping skills to eliminate and help manage stressors in their lives.
My communication style
My approach is warm, empathic, strength-based, and non-judgmental. I am passionate about clients feeling heard and guided toward relief, empowerment, and restoration. My goal is always to create an environment that feels safe for clients to build trust without judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a clinical social worker, I am impacted by the needs of others and how traumatic experiences in their lives have negatively affected them. I am passionate about working with others to help them heal because of my own healing journey and breakthroughs. Every individual is worthy of being heard and valued. I also believe we can all be empowered to change belief systems that have negatively affected us in a physical, emotional, and spiritual way. I am an advocate of not going through life alone and that there is hope in finding healing.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is to collaborate with clients to find what they desire to work on. I like to approach goals with a client-centered perspective so clients feel empowered to know they can heal and find balance. As a therapist, I like to provide clients with a holistic approach through psycho-education, mindfulness practices, and clinical insights to help them meet their goals.
My first session with you
During our first session, you can expect us to explore what the counseling process may look like for you. This also includes having a conversation about things you would like to accomplish together, and the benefits of tracking progress to see what is working and what may not be working. Ultimately, my goal is to create trust with you in hopes that we can collaborate to address your needs. We will work together to bring greater awareness to the present moment by clarifying your beliefs, values, and hopes.
