My name is Michael Tiura and I am a licensed psychologist based in Oakland, CA. I work with clients via telehealth throughout California. I specialize in working with clients of all ages with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and autism, in addition to building healthy coping strategies. I provide brief, (3 to 6 months) skills-based therapy using techniques from cognitive behavior therapy, positive psychology, and dialectical behavior therapy.

My approach to therapy is individualized and tailored to each client's needs and strengths. I create a plan with a client and use evidence-based interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and dialectial behavior therapy.
My focus
I have found that my approach works best for adults and children in transition or needing help to manage the stresses of daily life. I work best with clients who are motivated to build skills and healthy coping tools for a lifetime. I am here to help you build a balanced life.

My communication style is warm, relaxed, and collaborative. I want clients to feel safe and comfortable while also having a say in what their goals and treatment will look like.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist began while working in special education. I was inspired by students who worked hard to overcome their challenges and build on their strengths to succeed. I take that past with me to my current work with clients to boost their strengths and build healthy coping tools.
My goals for you
Clients will set goals collaboratively with me in our first few sessions. I believe that clients need to be given the opportunity to create goals that are important to them in order to heal and grow in therapy.
My first session with you
In our first session, I will ask questions about your interests, social support network, current symptoms, and goals to get to know you. We will create therapy goals together and discuss the format of therapy sessions going forward, including tools and coping skills that may be useful for you.
