My name is Mabel Aiello and I am a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who fosters and enhances my clients’ strength for a deeper and more meaningful healing process. I am here to work on what you need to heal, enhanced, or support.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of my clients. I am certified and most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as this helps me and my clients build an understanding of how thoughts, emotions, and actions affect self-awareness, moderate thinking, and dealing rationally with behaviors and thought processes.
My focus
In my 10+ years of experience, I have found that my talents as a therapist are highlighted with high school-age youth and young adults with depression, anxiety, PTSD, life transitions, social pressures, trauma, and grief. I have also been found it easy to talk to and connect with adults to assist with life transitions, relational problems, depression, stress, parenthood, and anxiety. I facilitate my clients to build enough skills to increase confidence and have a better understanding of their ability to get through tough situations in their lives.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, understanding, non-judgmental, and personable. It is very important to me that my clients feel comfortable talking to me in order to be able to build a positive rapport. I know how difficult it is for my clients to open up and I pride myself in being able to create a safe space for my clients to feel heard and accepted.
My journey to mental healthcare
My personality has always led me to be the peacemaker, “middle man”, and one that creates bridges between opposites. I have always been drawn to helping others in difficult times and have attracted others to open up to me. I knew I wanted to pursue a career to help others but never really knew how or in what capacity, until my oldest sister assisted me to discern my career path. Since I discovered the mental health world I have never looked back. Seeing how my clients have been able to work through very difficult things in their lives fills me with such joy. Even when I am just a step in someone’s life or simply plant a seed in someone’s life toward their healing process reassures me that this is my passion.
My goals for you
In goal setting, I will explore what you want to accomplish in the time we work together and in what ways you want me to assist you, meaning, we will both create a goal. I always explain to my clients that my approach to treatment is that you (the client) carry the map and I am simply the driver that gets you to your destination. Therefore, I can guide you to where you want to get to in your life by setting specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely goals that work best for you to move forward.
My first session with you
The first session is very different than the rest of the treatment sessions. During the first session, my goal is to be able to get to know you, understand where you are at today (emotionally), and will be asking a lot of questions to better understand what has affected your emotional well-being. This session is crucial in building a connection with my clients and helps me get a sense of where we should start.
