Hello, my name is, Jana Gottfried, and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I am passionate about helping people work through issues around anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and life challenges.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is based on cognitive behavioral therapy because CBT gives you concrete tools to gain more control over your emotions and work through issues. I also use Emotional Freedom Techniques, tapping, mindfulness, creative visualization exercises, to learn how to trust your own intuition and emotions.
My focus
I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, issues of grief, life transitions, and issues around chronic illnesses.
My communication style
I help clients feel safe by being very non-judgmental and making sure that they feel heard in session.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have a background in, 12-step, and am a member of Recovery International, self-help group, and this is what influenced me to get into the helping profession. My journey to becoming a therapist comes from my own experiences in therapy using CBT therapy. I felt very empowered to learn tools that I could use to calm myself and look at life more realistically. My professional training and life experiences with CBT, Recovery International, have made me feel optimistic about helping people.
My goals for you
I set goals with clients based on mutually agreed goals. I educate clients that therapy is time-limited and goals are also set with what a client is willing to work on between sessions.
