My name is Monica Smith and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I attended California Baptist University. My approach to therapy is humanistic with the framework of humans being capable of making rational decisions to reach their full potential with my support. My focused areas of practice is on client growth, development and wellness.

My approach to providing therapy is Client centered, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Mindfulness Based counseling, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Solution focused therapy and trauma focused therapy depending on the needs.

I have been working in the field for 7 years and I currently work with individuals. I work with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and relational issues.
My communication style
My communication style includes active listening and reflective responses in order to hold space to allow processing of feelings and to discuss life events. I like to provide the safe space to allow vulnerability and deep feelings to be protected and held.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was attracted to being an therapist due to being able to help people when in need and to be able to support other in some of their darkest days. I am driven to do this work due to knowing that I have a part in improving another human being.

My approach to goal setting is collaborative and to identify a starting point understanding the issues and explore the steps to achieve the goals to help improve aspects of your life.
My first session with you
You can you expect us to begin building rapport during our first session when I will provide you information about me and I will collect information about you. During this session I will ask information regarding your reason for starting therapy and to discuss how I can assist and support you on your journey.
