My name is Bobbie Martin, and I am a state Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I offer a safe, accepting, and positive environment for hope and healing for children, adults, couples, and families experiencing emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, post- traumatic stress, loss of a loved one, low self-esteem as well as communication issues. Helping others see their true potential and reach their goals has been my passion long before it was my career.
My approach
Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) And Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are generally the therapeutic models I use the most. If CBT and/or DBT does not appear to be helping I will change things up until WE find something that does help. I truly believe everyone has the ability to make changes if they are serious about making them and does the work to achieve their goals.
My focus
Typically, I work with folks that are having difficulty with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, poor self esteem, and relationship issues.
My communication style
I offer a safe, accepting, and positive environment to foster hope and healing. I consider myself to be easy going, approachable and easy to talk to.
My journey to mental healthcare
My lived experience drew me to becoming a social worker (therapist). I have been in the mental health field for over 25 years and enjoy talking to be people and listening to their stories. I have seen a lot of people making great strides to regain their mental stability and meet their goals and that is why I continue doing this work.
My goals for you
By exploring with the client what is going on and I give them suggestions to what I think needs to be worked on but at the end of the day, it is what the client wants to work on so they are able to accomplish their goal and be able to move on.
My first session with you
The first session generally involves the assessment and treatment plan development. Sessions that follow I start off by asking how they have been doing since last session. Because I feel 45 minutes or an hour 1 time a week is not enough time together, I also give homework assignments. This not only enhances the therapy, but it assists me in being able to gage if there is any progress being made.
