Hi, I'm Meghan Holland I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst. My approach to therapy is centered around the needs of the clients. I provide a supportive, compassionate, empathic approach by listening to the client and providing feedback that can help the client improve their quality of life.
My approach
The most common theoretical approach I use in my therapy process is cognitive behavior therapy. During a session I like to work with the client(s) to explore the thoughts and perceptions that influence behavior. Additionally, I help the client explore past patterns of thoughts and behavior to understand the root of these thoughts and behavior. This process allows the client to understand if the thoughts and behavior they are experiencing is benefiting their current life. I work with each client to find ways of reframing thought processes that are decreasing their quality of life. I also provide feedback and solutions to learn new skills and change behavior that is no longer benefiting the client. This process often results in the client experiencing an improved quality of life.
My focus
I have been working as a therapist since 2010 and I have extensive experience working with diverse populations. I have the pleasure to work with the neurodivergent population including ADHD and Autism Spectrum disorder. I have worked with couples experiencing marriage discord, communication deficits, infidelity; and those that that are in or exploring alternative relationships. I have experience providing therapy to individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, bipolar, and other clinical disorders. I have worked with parents, families, teens, and children to improve relationships and provide insight into thoughts, behaviors, and how to work through difficult life transitions.
My communication style
During our work together you will find the environment to be supportive, compassionate, and empathetic. As a therapist it is my role to help clients understand and understand their own thoughts and behaviors with the goal of improving the areas of their lives, they would like to have improved.
My first session with you
During the first session I spend time getting to know my clients. I believe it is important to understand past therapy experiences, the reasons for seeking therapy now, and the structure of the client’s current life. Lastly, I would like to understand the areas the client would like to improve in their life and work towards setting some therapy goals for our work together.
