Hi there, I'm Shirell!

Welcome, I'm Shirell Bunch-Lipscomb, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who is committed to helping individuals and families overcome various challenges and heal from trauma, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem. My mission is to help you build stronger, more connected relationships while fostering emotional growth and resilience.

My approach

As an experienced therapist, I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I believe in a person-centered approach to therapy, which recognizes you as the expert in your own life. My role as your guide is to help you identify and achieve your treatment goals by developing a strong, authentic relationship with you, teaching you valuable skills, and working collaboratively toward progress.

My focus

As a mental health professional, I specialize in working with teenagers and young adults who may be struggling with life transitions and social pressures. Through my therapeutic approach, I aim to help my clients develop the necessary skills and strategies to overcome anxiety, depression, stress, and self-esteem issues. By providing a safe and supportive environment, I work collaboratively with my clients to explore their experiences, identify their strengths, and build resilience. With a focus on empowerment and positive change, I strive to help my clients develop a more optimistic and adaptive outlook on life. Through ongoing assessment and evaluation, I ensure that my clients receive the most effective and evidence-based treatment for their unique needs.

My communication style

I have developed a therapeutic style that is calm, accommodating, and personable. My approach is centered on creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to express themselves freely. I prioritize active listening and empathy, which allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level. My goal is to make clients feel comfortable and supported so that they can explore their thoughts and feelings with ease. Overall, my approach is designed to facilitate a collaborative and empowering therapeutic relationship

My journey to mental healthcare

Becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) was driven by my passion for helping people improve their lives. This passion has been a consistent thread throughout my personal and professional experiences. As a "people person," I take pride in empowering individuals to achieve their goals. Becoming an LMFT allows me to translate this passion into a professional setting, providing evidence-based treatment and personalized care to those in need.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is collaborative and client-centered. I will listen carefully to your needs and desires, exploring your strengths, values, and motivations. By working as a team, we identify specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals that are meaningful and aligned with your overall treatment plan. Throughout the process, I provide encouragement, support, and accountability to help my clients stay on track and achieve their goals, recognizing that the goal-setting process may evolve over time to accommodate changes in their needs and circumstances.

My first session with you

During your first therapy session with me, I will aim to build rapport with you and get to know the reasons for seeking therapy. I will ask about your current life circumstances and any symptoms or issues you may be experiencing. Additionally, I may inquire about your personal history, including significant life events or experiences that may be relevant to your treatment. You can expect a safe and non-judgmental space to talk about your feeling.
