Hi, I am Mayra Rangel Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I see clients via telehealth in California. I work with individuals and couples looking to overcome current difficulties to live a more fulfilling life. My specialties include cultural issues, immigration/ acculturation issues, and trauma, specifically generational trauma, sexual trauma, and familial trauma.
My approach
My therapeutic approach depends on the client and their needs. I often incorporate Narrative and Client Centered techniques while utilizing a culturally responsive lens, to best help clients overcome the barriers to living a more fulfilling life.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach work well with adults who are looking to process their life experiences, such as trauma, cultural issues, and depression that impact their relationships and overall well-being. I walk alongside clients to help them process their past to live a more fulfilling life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, light-hearted, personable, and empathetic. I want my clients to feel like they are in a welcoming space, where they can be their authentic selves without judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have always been inclined to help people whether it be through volunteer work or through dialogue. From a very young age, I noticed that I really enjoyed talking with people one on one and helping them resolve problems they might be having. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best version of themselves.
My goals for you
When setting goals with clients, I allow clients to take the lead on setting their goals and identifying what they would like to gain from our work together. Often, this looks like building trust and becoming comfortable with one another. We will work together to track your progression towards your goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, I will ask questions about what brings you into therapy, and what you are looking to gain from therapy. During the first session I also like to get to know you as a person, your culture, your interests, and any significant information you think will be important for me to know as we begin working together.
