Some of our deepest emotional wounds come from difficult or dysfunctional relationships in early life. But just as relationships can hurt, so can they heal. Therapy is a place to heal these early wounds and develop the skills to form more satisfying relationships.
My approach
As a therapist, I draw from cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, family systems, and developmental theories in order to develop an approach uniquely suited to each person and each family. I am active, engaged, accepting, and compassionate in my therapeutic approach.
My focus
I work with individuals, couples, families, and children. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, phobias, ADHD, autism/Asperger's, anger management, behavioral issues, coping skills, divorce, family conflict, marital/pre-marital issues, men's issues, mood disorders, parenting, relationship issues, and trauma/PTSD.
My communication style
I recognize that every person is unique--what helps one person does not necessarily work for others. I am an active listener and aim to be accepting and compassionate in my communication with patients.
My journey to mental healthcare
I received my Master of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. I completed my clinical hours for licensure from April 2001 to May 2003 at Aldea Inc. in Napa, CA.
My goals for you
My goal is to help people clarify their feelings, values, and goals in order to make life decisions with open eyes and a clear mind. Through our work together, I hope to guide you in healing emotional wounds and developing skills for more fulfilling relationships.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and begin getting to know one another. I'll ask about your background, current struggles, and hopes for our work together. You'll have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have about my approach. We'll collaboratively set some initial goals for treatment.
