My name is Joetta Willis, Ph.D., LMFT. My approach to therapy is client-centered. I believe in helping others help themselves. I hold certifications as a Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Grief Informed Professional.
My approach
I have an integrated approach to therapy. I like to meet the client where the client is. My most common approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I am also a Christian Counselor.
My focus
I typically work with clients who have experienced trauma in their lives. I have worked with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, physical assault, and childhood traumas. I have worked with many clients experiencing depression and anxiety.
My communication style
I believe in partnering with my clients and taking a journey together. I like to help my clients discover their inner strengths. My clients feel empowered.
My journey to mental healthcare
I chose to become a therapist after experiencing traumatic events in my life and being helped by a therapist. I was so enlightened by the process that I wanted to help others to receive what I had received. I love what I do and seeing people take back control of their lives is a very rewarding experience.
My goals for you
Needs identified by the client set goals for therapy. The client and clinician can work together to prioritize which goals will be addressed first.
My first session with you
In our initial session, I collect psychosocial information to get a better understanding of the client's strengths, weaknesses, and history. The first session is more like a meet and greet.
