Hi there, I'm Tuong Kenny!

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience supporting youth, adolescents, parents, and families. My background in community mental health has taught me the importance of understanding clients within their cultural, family, and personal context while creating a supportive and collaborative space for growth.

My focus

I work with clients navigating life transitions, identity and cultural challenges, relationship stress, and caregiver burnout. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, and social anxiety while helping clients strengthen coping skills, build confidence, and create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

My approach

I take a collaborative, postmodern narrative approach to therapy. I believe clients already have the strengths, values, and abilities needed for change, and my role is to help uncover them. I also provide practical coping skills and strategies while regularly revisiting goals to ensure therapy remains meaningful and aligned with your needs.

My communication style

I view therapy as a collaborative partnership where we work side by side to better understand your experiences and challenges. Rather than simply giving advice, I focus on helping clients develop insight and confidence. I strive to create a space that feels supportive, patient, down-to-earth, and emotionally safe.

My journey to mental healthcare

As the child of immigrants and refugees, I witnessed many of the cultural and emotional challenges families can experience. Mental health was not openly discussed in my upbringing, which inspired my own journey into helping others. I began in peer support, worked as an ABA therapist, and have remained in community mental health ever since.

My goals for you

I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and therapy should be a collaborative process. My role is not to “fix” people, but to support them in becoming the version of themselves they want to be. Together, we create meaningful goals, build practical strategies, and regularly revisit progress throughout treatment.

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable foundation for therapy. I’ll learn more about your story, the challenges bringing you in, and what you hope to gain from treatment. We’ll also discuss expectations and begin creating meaningful treatment goals together.
