My name is Sharon Hill-Anderson. I am an LMFT. I like to meet the client where they are, and currently, my focus of practice is a mental health crisis.
My approach
Me approach is eclectic. I use CBT, Strategic, Brief therapy, Solution focused, etc. Sometimes a combination. It just depends on the client and the situation.
My focus
Currently, I typically work with clients in a mental health crisis. Many times I see clients that are suicidal with a plan or with extreme anxiety or depression causing the inability to function. I would very much like to work with mild to moderate anxiety or depression.
My communication style
I try to create a calm and comforting environment. A place that the client can express themselves without the fear of judgement.
My journey to mental healthcare
After a life of working in retail and wholesale sales, I wanted something that made me feel that I was making a difference, so I went back to school in my 40s. I didn't know I wanted to be a therapist, but as I was taking classes, it became more clear I enjoyed the subject of psychology and liked working with people. Many years later, here I am. I love helping people become the best they can be in life or sometimes just getting through a rough patch. It warms my heart to watch someone that is a bundle of nerves 1 minute take a few deep breaths or do a quick grounding exercise and is visibly calmer and surprised they can suddenly think again. It's rewarding when a client returns to thank you for being there for them.
My goals for you
I ask what they want to achieve and how a perfect world would look for them and then discuss the steps they might need to take to get there.
My first session with you
They should expect a listening ear and questions to discover who they are and what they want to work on.
