Hello. My name is Natsuko Jacobson, I'm a bi-lingual (Japanese and English) licensed clinical social worker/psychotherapist. My favorite approach to therapy is humanistic and holistic, but I'm flexible to change my approach depending on my clients' needs. I've been working with clients with a wide variety of issues, but my current focus areas of practice are loss and grieving, infertility issues, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.
My approach
I have certifications and practiced several modules such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I also like Psychoanalysis because I believe learning about ourselves could be a key to recovery. I can use therapeutic module(s) each time or as needed, depending on my client's preferences and interests. Many of my current clients prefer a freestyle with some therapeutic tools.
My focus
I've been working with young adults, adults, and older adults. I'm comfortable working with adult clients of any age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and other social status as long as clients are comfortable working with me.
My communication style
I have a calm yet passionate personality in terms of my occupation. My clients typically mention that they feel comfortable and warm when they see me for sessions. I am open-minded to any suggestions to improve our sessions so they are more effective for clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
One unique thing about me is therapy is my second career. I previously worked in the business industry before I became a therapist. I have experienced suffering, grieving, and difficult fertility treatments in my life. I have several family members who suffer from mental illnesses. I am very grateful and fortunate to be a therapist.
My goals for you
I believe that most cases, goals naturally come from clients. In case clients need any help, I am there to assist clients in exploring/setting their goals.
My first session with you
In the first session, I would like to know you more in order to assist you better, so I may ask you more questions than in a regular session. However, how to use session time would be up to my clients. So I usually start from where my clients are.
