Hi there, I'm Susan!

My approach to therapy is very client-centered, and I use a lot of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques in my practice. I enjoy working with tweens, teens, and adults and have an empathetic and caring nature. I also enjoy adding my sense of humor when appropriate.

My focus

I enjoy working with tweens, teens, and adults with a variety of presenting problems. Issues I work with include depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, anger issues, adjustment disorders, relationship problems, communication problems, behavioral problems, grief and loss, and stage of life issues.

My approach

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Modification, Family Systems, Positive Parenting, Psychodynamic, and Mindfulness approaches. I am very eclectic and draw techniques from multiple theories in addition to my life experiences to help my clients.

My communication style

I have a very informal, relaxed approach. If you work with me, you will feel heard and understood, you will be given helpful tools for managing and reducing your symptoms, and you will feel like you are not walking through your life's difficulties and hardships alone.

My journey to mental healthcare

I suffered clinical depression during my senior year of high school. I remember how debilitating it was and how my parents struggled to understand it. Finding a helpful therapist was also difficult. I was fascinated by psychology and decided I wanted to help others suffering from mental health disorders and life struggles.

My goals for you

I ask clients what changes they would like to see in their lives, and go from there in establishing realistic goals.

Our first session

Clients should expect our first session to be an intake, an information gathering session where I learn more about you and we establish a rapport. Insurances require a diagnosis to bill so I will be utilizing your answers to intake questions to complete a diagnosis.
