I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified school counselor. I have an extensive background in implementing several evidence-based practices utilizing Cognitive Behavioral and Trauma-Focused therapies. Change is a constant in life; sometimes it will be celebrated and sometimes it will be heartbreaking. This is a quote I cherish and that exemplifies my counseling philosophy: "Out of a mountain of despair, a stone of Hope." - MLK
My approach
I approach therapeutic work from the systemic and existential theories; it means that my client is both a part of a system and an individual system themselves. Existential questions arise that prompt my clients to ask who they are and why they are facing the situations they are managing at this point in their lives. Cognitive and behavior interventions are important to provide new ways of coping with life. When traumatic events occur, a helpful narrative is needed; therefore, I use evidence-based trauma interventions to support my client to create a strengths-based narrative to overcome the traumatic memories and develop a coherent life narrative.
My focus
As a Licensed MFT since 2007, I have extensive clinical experience. I am able to provide clinical services for a wide variety of diagnoses. I work well with children, teens, and adults. I provide care for any mood disorders and personality issues.
My communication style
I aim to provide caring, supportive, and realistic communication with my clients. I focus on the content and the meaning of communication to better understand my client's needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
Since my high school years, I have been drawn to understand the reasons people interact with others the way they do. Since then, my focus has been to understand relationships and help my clients achieve more fulfilling personal connections themselves.
My goals for you
From my clinical expertise, I have learned that a goal is the main focus my client wants to work on. I provide my clinical and professional input as we work collaboratively in determining the goal that best will support my client at this time in their lives.
My first session with you
My clients can expect me to provide them with respectful regard, supportive communication, and an unwavering focus on understanding their current life situation.
