Hi! My name is Preeya Roe and I am an LCSW specializing in self-awareness, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I consider one's cultural identification and how it impacts our view of the world and ourselves. I would love to support you in increasing insight on the way to support you in developing the how and what is needed to reduce your suffering.
My approach
I have formal certification training as a Clinical Trauma Professional and a Clinical Anxiety Professional with a focus on children and adolescents. When working with individuals, I tailor my approach to my client's needs using a mix of CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and Attachment theory. When working with couples I use both Gottman and an Emotionally-Focused therapeutic approach.
My focus
I've worked with clients of all ages and ailments and enjoy supporting people in reaching their goals and reducing their pain. I am passionate about supporting people suffering from anxiety-related disorders and relational issues.
My communication style
I like to get to know my clients and use a hands-on, skill-based, directive approach to supporting my clients in understanding themselves more deeply. I am open to feedback and believe that it is my job to adjust to my client's needs and communication style. I naturally am more outgoing and will provide tools to address client concerns.
My journey to mental healthcare
I always say that I didn't choose the field, the field chose me. I am a natural helper and I credit some of that to growing up in a multi-cultural family and seeing how values, expectations, and norms influence the way we interact with the world. I've always loved learning about myself and others and am inspired by how freeing self-awareness and insight can be.
My goals for you
I will encourage my clients to set realistic goals for treatments and I understand that goals shift and change throughout the therapeutic process.
My first session with you
During the first session, I will spend the majority of our time getting to know you, answering any questions you may have about me or the therapeutic process, and listening.
