My focus

I believe therapy is a highly collaborative effort. I am a first-generation immigrant from Colombia who identifies as a cisgender gay man with a history of complex trauma and great capacity for resilience. I am passionate about working with Latinx folks who also belong to LGBTQIA+ communities.

My approach

Be prepared to talk about your primary therapy goals so we can map out a plan to help you achieve them. I will help you tap into your own resources so you can build self-awareness, improve self-esteem, boost hope and resilience, and feel more productive and confident.

My communication style

Some folks find it easy to talk about their life experiences and challenges. Others have more difficulty expressing thoughts and emotions. Count on me to actively listen, carefully and non-judgmentally, as we explore what happened, what's going on, and where you'd like to go.

My journey to mental healthcare

I had a hard time coming out as gay, primarily due to religious trauma. I became deeply depressed and lost my biological father to drug addiction and my stepfather to cancer. These challenges have molded me into the empathetic therapist I am today.

My goals for you

We will identify your therapy needs and goals together. We will work to make your personalized plans specific, measurable, achievable, relevant to your values, and time-bound. As we move forward, we will continuously assess our progress and make adjustments whenever necessary.
