My name is Chinicka E. Khlot. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My clinical orientation lies with Psychodynamics and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. One of the most important factors of my psychotherapy approach is the therapeutic alliance between myself and the client.
My approach
I have worked in various settings from psychiatric facilities for crisis stabilization, residential care facilities for emotionally disturbed adolescents, community and outpatient mental health which have allowed me to build experience to adequately support individuals to recover from crises and return to fully functioning and maintaining their recovery. I provide a safe space for clients to gain a better understanding of themselves by assisting them in emotionally process their thoughts and feelings in order to make sense of their experiences by increasing insight and awareness on the impact on their lives. An integrative theoretical approach including psychodynamic, humanistic, and behavioral theories are utilized to fit the unique needs of clients, issues, and contexts.
My focus
I have had success with clients diagnosed with depressive disorders, social anxiety, trauma related disorders, women's issues, and cultural/ethnic issues.
My communication style
I have worked in various settings with diverse demographics across the board. I've learned that no matter who you are, having the support from a non-judgemental professional can be helpful in addressing problems. Therapy is a safe space to emotionally process feelings and make sense of your experiences to gain a better understanding of your inner self and to reach your goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
Several years after starting my work in the field of health and human services in 2012, I began to develop an awareness of patients, problems, and contexts. I started to develop an understanding of the intercorrelation between people, relationships, and systems. Over time, I recognized a need that was unfulfilled. I found my purpose and desire to contribute to solutions and alleviate human suffering.
My goals for you
I take a collaborative approach with clients in identifying goals and establishing a treatment plan. The client centered treatment plan is not a process to be rushed but to be thoroughly discussed and explored to determine realistic objectives and goals to increase chances of success.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients should expect to review telehealth guidelines (I am 100% remote at this time), agency policy and procedures, expectations, and limits of confidentiaity to treatment. During this initial visit, a clinical assessment will be conducted to identify symptoms and the level of impact on functioning. At the end of the session, we will discuss goodness of fit for treatment services.
