Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Cynthia!

Cynthia Glasgow, LMFT: I approach therapy knowing that it is important that my clients feel understood, valued, and recognized. I also believe that your therapy is ultimately your process, which I hope to be a helpful part of as we identify your strengths and possibilities.

My approach

People begin their therapy process for many reasons. Sometimes it's to get through or move past a painful experience, or to better understand it, so they may begin to move forward. Some seek to find and define their strengths and values to create a more fulfilling life. My goal is to assist you in getting to where you want to be by starting where you are. In therapy, I often utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing to assist my clients in processing, evaluating, and growing. Mindfulness practices also are often a positive addition to treatment, as well as finding and learning to utilize your strengths and resources to create positive and meaningful experiences. I look forward to being a part of your process toward living each day at your best.

My focus

I have been providing therapy and managing mental health programs as a Clinical Director for 25 years working with adults, adolescents, and young adults in private practice and in various community mental health programs. I have managed programs & therapists working with foster families, issues related to abuse, as well as a wide range of diagnoses. I also have experience related to mental health services provided in our school systems to students and their families via the Individual Education Program (IEP) process (Orange County, K-12).

My communication style

In sessions, I strive to provide opportunities for honest and open communication. I hope to provide an environment that feels safe for my clients to express themselves freely and openly without concern for any judgment. I truly enjoy my work, so my hope is that sessions with me always feel comfortable, and validating and that you are working with someone you can trust to be honest and to always respect your experiences.

My journey to mental healthcare

I absolutely love my job and am so grateful to be doing this work! I was driven towards this career by a passion to assist others. I started this journey by working with victims of violent crime, assisting them in enduring and understanding the criminal justice system. Moving forward I have enjoyed working with many varied populations and challenges, always in hopes of being helpful to others engaging in the process of exploration and growth.

My goals for you

Goals will be created together by identifying what you would like to look different by the end of our work together. I hope to assist in providing some clarity or organization to the goal-setting process to assist you in identifying realistic and meaningful goals for your future.

My first session with you

During the first session, I will review with you all the necessary details including confidentiality and safety. I will gather information that you would like me to know about you, including asking you to share with me what brings you to therapy now, so we may begin to identify your goals and hopes for the process we are starting together.
