My name is Galina and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the States of Illinois and California. I received an MA in Counseling from NEIU in 2006 and a PsyD in Counseling Psychology from California Southern University in 2019.
My approach
I have had over 18 years of experience working in various mental health settings including hospital, partial care, outpatient, and addiction centers while helping individuals and families with a variety of personal issues ranging from depression, anxiety, stress, family problems, addictions of all kinds, relationships/parenting, to trauma/abuse and more.
My focus
My work is dedicated to improving the lives of my clients and helping them on the road to self-awareness and self-acceptance by resolving their personal problems and decreasing their suffering, thus they have a better chance of having a more enjoyable, healthier, happier, and productive life.
My communication style
I believe in a therapeutic approach that has to be tailored to people’s needs, life challenges, and circumstances. I do not believe in cookie-cutter therapy, instead, I believe in having a patient-centered therapeutic approach grounded in acceptance and support. My style is eclectic and integrative, including the best of cognitive, developmental, solution-focused, systemic, and psycho dynamic therapies.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have an exceptional background and interest in anxiety and alcohol use disorders which are the topics of my dissertation. I have attended multiple major conferences, workshops, and training programs focused on the treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, self-injury, and couples therapy.
