Mike Rizzo LMFT, I have worked in the recovery field since 2004. Since 2007 I have worked at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, developing and managing their Addiction Recovery Services / Crystal Meth Recovery Services. I also was the Program Director at CAST Centers in West Hollywood.
My approach
Finding a therapist is an extremely personal choice and developing the right rapport with your therapist is vital to the therapeutic process. I work from a Client-Centered Approach; creating a compassionate environment that is safe and free of judgment.
My focus
I am trained in working with individuals in the LGBTQI community. I specialize in addiction recovery and am comfortable working with clients dealing with depression and anxiety.
My communication style
I believe clients intuitively have their own answers and I work to help clients find their truth. I work compassionately and can be directive with my clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been interested in the therapeutic process and initially was a certified drug and alcohol counselor. I eventually pursued my master's in clinical psychology. I am passionate about helping individuals develop a healing relationship with their issues.
My first session with you
My initial session is usually a time to get to know the client and for the client to get to know me. I'd like to know what is bringing the client into therapy and if the client had done therapy before what was their experience before.
