Hi there, I'm Rhonda!

Hello, I am Rhonda Robertson, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) based in Petaluma, California, and providing Telehealth services to clients throughout the state. My area of expertise is working with Individuals and adolescents addressing their concerns related to trauma, anxiety, stress, and depression. In my practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to assist my client in making progress and achieving a better state of mental well-being.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual client I work with. I typically draw upon a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Focused Therapy (TFT). These methods allow for a collaborative understanding of the client's reality, and together we can chart a path toward progress.

My focus

I have discovered that my therapeutic style and approach are particularly effective for teenagers and you adults, as well as adults who are grappling with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. These difficulties often manifest in the form of anxiety, depression, and unhealthy ways of coping. My aim is to assist my clients in navigating these transition periods and to cultivate skills that enable them to improve their self-esteem and develop a more optimistic outlook on life.

My communication style

My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I strive to create an environment where clients feel at ease discussing any topic and I take pride in my ability to attentively listen without casting judgment.

My journey to mental healthcare

The decision to become a therapist was driven by my innate passion for aiding people in need. From being a peer counselor to volunteering in my community and church, and even as a trusted friend, I have always been inclined towards assisting others in navigating challenging situations. Observing individuals grow and transform into their best selves is an immensely gratifying experience for me and this drives my dedication toward this profession.

My goals for you

My strategy for setting goals is centered around collaborative efforts to establish your goals and what you wish to achieve. Initially, our focus will be on establishing trust and building rapport, allowing you to feel at ease with the therapeutic process. Over time we will work hand in hand to define objectives and monitor your progress.

My first session with you

Our initial session is an opportunity for us to acquaint ourselves with each other. It provides a comfortable setting for you to communicate the reasons behind your desire for treatment and for us to begin creating a strategy to help you accomplish your goals.
