Hi there, I'm Randy!

I specialize in work with children, teens, and their families, and I am accepting clients along those lines. It is no picnic being young in the 2020s. Your therapist is your greatest ally, biggest fan, and strongest cheerleader. I welcome the chance to be that for you, and help you figure out what's going on.

My focus

I specialize in working with children, teens, and their families. No issue is off the table, and no judgments are made. You won't have a problem or situation I haven't encountered before.

My approach

I borrow from all major approaches. I take a humanistic approach that focuses on the client being the center of attention. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address symptoms, and a Psychodynamic approach to find the underlying causes of behaviors. Specific therapeutic techniques are based on the individual needs of the client.

My communication style

You are the expert on you. I bring my "I-don't-know" to therapy and ask questions, trying to understand you from your point of view. I will be honest and transparent. Above all, I will honor confidentiality to the fullest extent of the law.

My journey to mental healthcare

The toughest years of my life were in middle school and high school. But some adults saw me better than I saw myself, and they helped me get through it. I want to be able to help others see themselves better.

My goals for you

Whatever problems in your life you want to work through, their solutions become our treatment goals. Therapy should be a partnership between the therapist and the client. What we do, we do together.

Our first session

The first session establishes confidentiality: you own what is said, and I cannot discuss it with anyone else. We review the few exceptions, then explore why you are in therapy and where we can go from there. If you have never been in therapy before, it might be a little scary. But you are never forced to say anything you don't want to say.
