My name is Sari Zuccarino, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has extensive experience working with children, teens, adults, and families. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, family conflict, low self-esteem, grief, disruptive behaviors, parenting, and addiction. I use evidenced-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and mindfulness techniques to support my clients in the healing process and their personal growth.
My approach
My approach to therapy is client-centered as it allows clients to gain their own understanding of their experiences to help them with the healing process. I'm genuine, empathetic, and non-judgmental during my sessions, which helps in forming a positive therapeutic relationship. I enjoy collaborating and providing support to empower my clients' participation in therapy in order to give them a voice. I like to individualize each of my client's needs, and there is a vast assortment of many other approaches and tools that I use.
My focus
I enjoy working with many different populations including children, teens, adults, and families. I find that each stage of life has its own set of challenges, which makes my job interesting. I'm most comfortable treating individuals who have anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, low self-esteem, and addiction.
My communication style
I create an environment of compassion, support, and understanding to help individuals to learn and grow. I communicate calmly and patiently to create a safe environment for my clients to share. I use active listening without judgment to build rapport and gain insight into my clients' struggles, strengths, reasons for coming to therapy, and goals they're looking to achieve. I want my clients to feel heard and understood, so they can open up and trust me when they're ready.
My journey to mental healthcare
My past life experiences have driven me to become a therapist. I went back to school and received my undergraduate and master's degree at California State University, Dominguez Hills as an adult. I'm honored to be trusted by my clients and to support them with their mental health. Knowing that I have a part in affecting the lives of others is very rewarding to me. I get great pleasure in educating and helping people reach their fullest potential to live their best life.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is to work together with my clients and listen to what they want to achieve. I support my clients by providing them with the tools to gain the skills they need in managing their daily struggles and ultimately reach their goals.
My first session with you
The first session is our initial connection and a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. I can answer any questions you may have. I'm interested in learning about you; what brings you to therapy; and what you want to accomplish. I would like to get a sense of what direction you would like to go in your therapeutic journey and what treatment would work best for you.
