Hi! My name is Chris! I am a licensed clinical social worker who focuses on compassion, empathy, and the unique story that each of us has. My focus is on promoting resiliency and acceptance as a means of empowering each client to create the change they want in their lives.
My approach
I would describe my approach as freeform and narrative-focused. I start from a place of curiosity and compassion and adapt my approach to your specific treatment needs. I often employ Narrative therapy and Logos therapy in treatment. I employ a lot of humor, banter, and storytelling.
My focus
I enjoy working with all types of clients, though I enjoy being a part of a client's journey out of their trauma and pain and towards the life they want to live. I have worked with many in the LGBTQ+ community, various types of abuse survivors, complex grief, and neurodivergence.
My communication style
I do my best to create a warm, accepting, creative, and humorous environment where my clients typically describe it as a safe place to face whatever they are struggling with and just be themselves. I am known for my hyperbolic speech and working with clients to take themselves less seriously and start enjoying the process of living.
My journey to mental healthcare
When I set out on my college adventure I was not looking to be a therapist. I fell in love with psychology early and took every class I could take. I am fascinated by the stories people have and really enjoy learning about new people. I am driven to work in this field by both my love of people and my desire to help people who are hurting.
My goals for you
Typically I approach goal setting indirectly. I start with mindset, motivators, and desired life outcomes and work with the client to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time specific.
My first session with you
The first session is typically relaxed and client-paced. I start with a lot of "Getting to know you" questions and an exploration of the clients' goals for treatment. we will laugh, relax, and get to know each other.
