My name is Rachel Bond and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a passion for treating others with ADHD and anxiety. I prefer to use what is considered an eclectic approach as I feel that everyone is the author of their own story and don't all fit in the same approach.
My approach
I use an eclectic approach to therapeutic techniques. This means that I pull techniques from different frameworks including Adlerian, Cognitive Behavioral, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.
My focus
I typically work with clients who are struggling with ADHD symptoms (inability to focus, feeling overwhelmed, racing thoughts) and anxiety (racing thoughts, somatic symptoms, situation-based). I also understand the stress that comes from customer service work (i.e. restaurant, clothing stores, theme parks, etc.).
My communication style
I have a very direct style with a flair for incorporating dry humor and symbolism in sessions. I have a very professional but laid-back style of counseling: I may have education and training but my job is to help you learn more about yourself and find the tools you have to heal.
My journey to mental healthcare
I wanted to be a therapist because I wanted to help people heal from childhood negative experiences. At my school, about 1 year after I graduated, there were multiple attempted and completed suicides due to academic pressure and not enough support. I did not want that pattern to continue into adulthood.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting with clients as a necessary step. Goal setting gives us an ultimate path to travel. Even if/when we divert from the path, it's always there to go back to and help us move forward.
My first session with you
The focus of our first session will be completing Rula's intake assessment. After the intake, it will be slightly less structured and more focused on developing a professional rapport with each other (things like interests, session structures, etc.).
