Hi, I’m Carrie. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Hawaii. I help young adults and adults cope with and manage symptoms relating to ADHD, OCD, eating disorders, and trauma.
My approach
My approach is tailored to each client and their individual goals and needs. Some therapeutic interventions include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, somatic and trauma-informed, and exposure response prevention.
My focus
I typically work with young adults and adults who suffer from ADHD, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality, Coping Skills, Domestic Violence, Dual Diagnosis, Eating Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD), Racial Identity, Stress, Substance Use, Trauma and PTSD, Cultural Stress, LGBTQIA+, and Racial Trauma.
My communication style
My communication style is warm, nonjudgmental, comforting, and humorous. I strive to create a safe place for my clients to openly express themselves.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my journey many years ago (almost 12 years!) while working for a court-ordered dual diagnosis rehab in Southern California. I noticed the lack of therapeutic interventions and a heavy reliance on behavioral modification. I witnessed how this negatively affected the clients and knew there were more effective approaches. I decided to go back to school so that I could learn more about mental health and evidence-based interventions. I am driven and motivated when comes to helping other people thrive instead of survive.
My goals for you
I allow the client to take the lead on what their goals are and the ultimate outcome they are seeking from therapy and go from there.
My first session with you
We will discuss why you are seeking therapy, your prior (if any) history with mental health, goals for therapy, and what I can offer as a clinician, and answer any questions you might have.
