My approach
My approach is one that meets the client where they are any then being in the tools they need to be successful on their journey. This includes an integrative focus with an existential lens using many different techniques from other theories including CBT, person centered, DBT, play therapy and others as necessary to meet the needs of the client.
My focus
The clients I typically work with are adults (18+) who are working through life challenges and transitions. This includes clients who are looking to develop skills to manage deal with specific issues or challenges, learning to cope with a life event or situation, or looking for an outlet to manage daily life while building skills to handle day to day issues.
My communication style
I have a laid back persona focusing on validating the client, their situations and feelings, while challenging them in a gentle and safe manner to help encourage change and progress at their speed and ability.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my journey as a professional counselor later in life in to fulfill my desire to help people better understand themselves and others. I have always been a searcher hoping to find work that I enjoyed. This is my third career and has become my life's passion. While it took me a while to find this path, I love my ability to help people find the right path and direction for themselves.
My goals for you
Goals are identified with the client driving the process.
My first session with you
During the first session, we have a conversation about what led the client to seek counseling and talk about their history and other aspects of their lives. This allows the counselor some insight to who the client is and how they can best meet the client's needs.
