My journey to mental healthcare
My career as a therapist began as a licensed clinical social worker in the U. S. Air Force. After retiring from the military, I began my second career with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am driven to do this work because I truly believe that we are each trying to do our best to improve our quality of life. However, we tend to get stuck in certain emotional patterns, thought patterns, and behavioral patterns. In order to help with this I utilize a combination of evidence-based treatments including, Humanistic and Cognitive Therapies. All of this occurs within a safe online counseling environment creating a trusting relationship that we will build over time. Please know that I am committed to giving you quality care and protecting your privacy and I will do my best to help you achieve the goals that you came to Rula Mental Health to resolve. My previous clients found that their online therapy sessions were very helpful in addressing their presenting problems and I am hopeful that you will have the same outcome. I look forward to working with you.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting with client's by asking them what their overall goals are. Next, I will identify a starting point while helping clients understand the importance of being honest with themselves.
My first session with you
My first session includes a warm welcome and introduction. I will explore client's main reason for the appointment and the need for therapy. During the initial assessment and treatment plan we will establish the client's treatment plan goals.
