Hi there, I'm Lyudmila!

I am a compassionate therapist with 15 years of experience providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy in a hospital setting. With a diverse background working with patients from all over the world and various age groups, I specialize in helping people with mood disorders, anxiety, life transitions, and grief. I am fluent in Russian and love working with immigrant clients.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that compassion, caring, and a strong therapeutic alliance are essential for the healing process. I draw from various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic, and Mindfulness-Based approaches, to accommodate each client's unique needs. I believe in collaborating with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, as they are the experts in their own lives.

My focus

I work with individuals, specializing in mood disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, life transitions, relationship issues, and aging. I have extensive experience working with immigrant clients, especially those from the Russian-speaking community.

My communication style

I strive to create a comfortable and safe space for you to explore and share your inner struggles, aspirations, and expectations from therapy. We will work together to develop a treatment plan that aligns with your needs and preferences. I believe in open, honest communication and aim to be a supportive "navigator" on your journey to healing and growth.

My journey to mental healthcare

Becoming a therapist is my second career. Initially, I worked in computer programming but found it unfulfilling. My long-standing interest in psychology and human behavior inspired me to change professions. After soul-searching, I realized my true calling was to help people heal, grow, and improve their lives. I earned a Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University and embarked on a 15-year career as a hospital therapist. Now, I am excited to open my own private practice, providing high-quality care through telehealth platforms.

My goals for you

My goal is to support you in harnessing your capacity for positive change and overcoming adversity. I believe that one should never lose hope, and I use a gentle, creative approach to guide you on your journey to healing and growth. I am committed to continually deepening my knowledge and learning about the latest modalities and research to provide you with the best possible care.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will focus on building rapport and creating a safe, comfortable space for you to share your story. I will listen attentively to understand your concerns, goals, and expectations for therapy. Together, we will begin to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and preferences. This initial session will lay the foundation for our therapeutic alliance and set the stage for your journey towards healing and growth.
