Hello! I’m Susan Bennett and I am a licensed mental health counselor. My approach to therapy is warm and empathic to provide you with a safe space to explore what you need to in order to heal. My areas of practice are supporting people with anxiety, depression, phase of life/adjustment issues, healing from trauma, grief, relationship issues, self-esteem, spirituality, and women’s issues.
My approach
My training is in cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy, and I also draw from solutions focused, EMDR, mindfulness, and spiritual practices.
My focus
I typically work with people who are struggling with stress, life changes, those who are struggling to find their purpose and their passion, or who are working through depression and anxiety, and spiritual issues.
My communication style
My hope is to provide my clients with a safe container for them to feel safe, heard, and validated. My style is warm, and humorous when appropriate but firm when needed. It is my wish for everyone to feel welcomed in the counseling space and to feel a sense of ease.
My journey to mental healthcare
I’ve always been a curious person, and enjoyed people! Ever since I could remember, I have been involved with people, in one way or another. I grew up with great role model parents who demonstrated to me what compassion in action looks like, and they inspired me to strive to make therapy a career.
My goals for you
I like to collaborate with you and get a sense of what you want to work on, and adjust as needed because life is not linear!
My first session with you
The first session is a get-to-know session, lots of talking about what brings you to talk at this point in your life, what is working and what’s not working in your life, and where you want to go from here. I like to get people thinking and in touch with their power.
