My communication style

I use active listening skills and check back to see if I've understood you accurately. I seek to follow your lead. Sometimes I will play a hunch and raise an issue that seems important. I will encourage you to share, but default to your choice about if and when you want to. I send a summary of our meeting to you after each session.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have experienced lots of failure and struggle on my path. I know people can succeed with the right support. I grew up in a home that didn't really support me in achieving much, but slowly I learned who I was and what I was capable of. Eventually, I figured out how to build on my successes. I want to pay it forward now.

My goals for you

As I hear what your story is and what the features are, I am listening for possible goals, but also for your capacity to set them. Sometimes, some healing work has to happen first! I can help you craft goals, and I will remind you that the goal is for you, and the edges of the commitment are as hard or as soft as you make them for yourself.

Our first session

A first session with me really depends on you. I will try to follow your lead. We will probably start out with a general conversation about not much. One of us will approach the matters at hand, and we will go from there. Hopefully, it will be a positive experience worth repeating! I'm a fan of easy does it, especially with someone I don't know.
