Hi there, I'm Stacy!

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" is a metaphor I strive to embody in my approach to therapy. Just as lemons represent adversity or difficulty in life, I work with clients to turn those challenges into something positive and empowering. With genuine concern for your struggles, I bring an integrated approach drawing upon my experience, expertise, and tools to help you navigate complex life issues effectively.

My approach

My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Reality Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I tailor my approach to your unique needs, providing clarity, goal-setting, and the knowledge and skills to foster growth and healing.

My focus

I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and adolescents ages 13-17 facing a range of challenges, including addiction, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, family conflict, substance use, and LGBTQIA+ issues. With over three years of experience counseling diverse populations, I am committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care.

My communication style

You can expect me to communicate with clarity, compassion, and a solutions-focused perspective. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Collaboratively, we will identify your strengths, set achievable goals, and equip you with practical coping skills to navigate life's challenges.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to the mental health field began with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University, where I focused on sociology and psychology. Driven by a desire to make a more direct, positive impact in people's lives, I went on to earn a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling. Since then, I have provided counseling in various settings, including residential treatment, private rehabilitation, and programs serving clients with mental health disorders, physical disabilities, and barriers to education and employment.

My goals for you

My goal is to empower you with the insights, skills, and resilience to not only overcome current challenges but to thrive long-term. Whether you are struggling with a diagnosed condition, a difficult life transition, or simply feeling overwhelmed, I am here to support you in building a life that aligns with your values and aspirations. Through our work together, I aim to help you cultivate self-awareness, emotional regulation, healthy coping mechanisms, and strong interpersonal relationships.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy, collaboratively identify your goals, and begin building a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I will gather relevant background information and assess your current symptoms, strengths, and support systems. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that outlines our approach, objectives, and measures of progress. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and share what you hope to gain from our work together.
