I am Dr. Paula Cooks; I am a Christian that believes in the holistic approach to managing the mental health needs of my clients. I use humanistic and existential therapeutic modalities. I believe that the individual, couple, or family has the unconscious resolution to aid in returning to homeostasis. My focus is on managing and improving the mental health status of individuals, families, and couples seeking relief from environmental, situational, and life stressors.
My approach
The therapeutic framework that is used is, first and foremost, person-centered, solution-focused, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Trauma-focused, ABC Model, DBT, and REBT are also incorporated into resolving complex issues revolving around mental health instability.
My focus
The client population that I typically see are children, adolescents, and adults. I am most comfortable with treating behavioral problems, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), PTSD, Trauma, addiction, marital and premarital issues, blended family, grief, anxieties, and depression.... to name a few.

The therapeutic environment consists of a client-led approach while utilizing therapeutic interventions and modalities that are unique to the client's culture and competence level.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe that every person has the ultimate right and responsibility to choose their unique and individual journey through life without the negative influences of external stimuli. I believe that every individual should have the right and ability to decide their fate and how they perceive it necessary for their health and happiness.
My goals for you
Goal setting is an approach by encouraging the client to identify goals utilizing simple, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-oriented (SMART) objectives that will be most beneficial to the client's therapeutic success.
My first session with you
The client will be provided competent, confidential, and unconditional positive regard for their unique and sensitive situation with the therapeutic expectation of mental health stabilization.
